Plain-English explanation of what ConfidentCarcollects and how it's used. Effective July 6, 2026.

What this service does

ConfidentCarhelps private-party car sellers build a shareable “trust packet” for a vehicle and collect buyer inquiries. It is not a marketplace, escrow service, or identity-verification service.

Information we collect

Sellers: your email address so we can send a private edit link for your packet. If you use account features, your name and email may also be handled through our sign-in provider (Clerk).

Packet content: everything you enter about a vehicle — details, VIN, condition answers, disclosures, maintenance records, notes, and any photos or documents you upload.

Buyer inquiries: when a buyer contacts a seller, we collect the name, email, optional phone number, message, and optional offer amount they submit.

Usage data: basic product events such as packet page views and publish actions, plus standard server logs.

How it's used

Packet content is used to build your packet pages. When you publish, the packet page is public: anyone with the link can see what's on it, including photos and the VIN at the visibility level you chose. Unpublishing or archiving takes the page offline.

Buyer inquiry details are delivered to the seller of that vehicle — in their leads view and by email notification. That is the purpose of the form; buyers should expect the seller to contact them back.

Usage data helps us understand whether the product works. We don't sell personal information and we don't run ads.

Who else touches the data

We rely on service providers to run the app: Clerk (optional sign-in), Vercel (hosting and file storage), Turso (database), and Resend (email delivery). Each receives only what it needs to do its job.

Your choices

Sellers can unpublish or archive a packet at any time, which removes the public page. To delete your account or any data — including inquiries you submitted as a buyer — email support@example.comand we'll handle it.

What we don't do

We don't verify buyer or seller identity, inspect vehicles, hold funds, or provide legal advice. Information on packet pages is seller-provided unless marked otherwise.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll update this page and the effective date above.
